Hi!

Thanks for stopping by. Here is a little bit about me: my earliest memory of writing and reading is with my grandpa. He read a piece I wrote about my mother, and he was moved, though silently. I knew it took him down memory lane about his own mother.

Writing candid stories automatically possesses its magic, and the sharing of it is just beyond magic. In reading those stories, boundaries dissolve, and a common feeling transcends.

I spent my adolescence in a pretty confusing space, torn between two drastically different cultures, and was forever trapped in an identity crisis, even into adulthood, struggling with finding my voice. I came across the term “third culture kids” in my college thesis research project and learned that there is a whole group of people out there. Many are not “kids,” but their childhood cultural experiences reset their learning, often summoning a childlike perspective, with moments in their life being tales of “coming out of age” unconsciously.

In the two years of building this space, on and off, in addition to deepening bonds with friends, I had several encounters that were so meaningful. People who I had never met before started to tell me their life stories, people who were also torn between two or multiple cultures and identities. That grey area of not belonging anywhere united us.

My professional career directed me to journalism, in spaces of retail, luxury, art and culture, and then psychology. My role consists of talking to experts and boiling down complicated industry topics to common knowledge. But the writing was so formal that it lacked a human voice. So, I sometimes dump my thoughts here in my personal writings, every two weeks or so.

Thanks for making it this far and getting to know me. I hope whatever shift this blog evolves into, fictional or nonfictional, it sustains a kind of candid voice—a reflection of the ups and downs of navigating life. Perhaps it resonates with you, or maybe it makes you want to read a little more. And perhaps, one day, we can go grab a cup of coffee in real life. Connect me on ins: 3rdculturekidss
